The UK consulate in New York City has confirmed that the UK will not be giving the Iroquois National lacrosse team the necessary Visa's to travel to England. The team will therefore be unable to play in the Championships, including the opening game against England tomorrow evening. Organisers are looking to promote the Irish team to play against England, from the next division down after Japan refused to accept the change in the schedule.

The UK should be ashamed! To prevent the founders of the sport from being able to participate makes a mockery of this entire event. This is a travesty! A travesshamockery!!!
ReplyDeleteThe Iroquois team have been forced to forfeit their opening match of the Championships against England. They have not withdrawn from the tournament yet. England will play Germany in an exhibition match at 7.30pm instead. For the full story check the home page of www.2010worldlacrosse.com
ReplyDeleteWhat a sham, an outrage, to have the host nation, who invited the Iroquois, deny the Iroquois entry and then forfeit their game and award England full points, which they never would have gotten. Utterly ridiculous and completely unsporting.
ReplyDeleteShame on the ILF, and the UK and USA governments for this entire episode! Just when the sport of lacrosse needs more positive news...
